The Bel Air armchair, designed in 1982 for the second historic Memphis exhibition, is by radical Southern California iconoclast Peter Shire. With its "beachball"-like corner sculptural element and over-the-top Hollywood inspiration, the chair belies its incredible comfort level. Sit back against the purple bolster, throw your legs over the orange side arm, and pretend you're on the set of "Miami Vice", where it was used once or twice!!
